Royal Westmoreland is one of our most popular resort destinations on the island of Barbados. The carefully kept lawns and obsessively leaf-blown walkways, make for the perfect environment to gently cruise in your golf cart, and crest the iconic yellow speed bumps on your way to the Clubhouse.
As with all clubs, they exist for the benefit of both their guests, and their members, and as such set their own rules and policies which can be helpful to understand when choosing the right villa for your holiday.
Membership Tiers
Property owners at Royal Westmoreland have the option to take up one of three tiers of Membership, with many of the benefits of these memberships being shared with the rental guests of their respective villa.
For your convenience each of our properties at Royal Westmoreland lists its membership tier under the In Brief section, found on the right hand side of each listing. If you need any assistance, just ask a member of our wonderful Reservations Team and we'd be delighted to help you.
No Membership (No Facilities)
A property with No Membership at Royal Westmoreland has access to the property via the resort, but does not have use of the communal facilities including Swimming Pools, The Sanctuary, Gym, Tennis, Pickle, or Padel courts, The Beach Club, Shuttle Bus service, or Golf (beyond Visitor Golf – see below).
Social Membership (Beach Club, Gym, Pool)
A property with a Social Membership at Royal Westmoreland is well suited to 'non-golfers' and offers access to most of the communal facilities including Swimming Pools, The Sanctuary, Gym, Tennis, Pickle, and Padel courts, The Beach Club, and Shuttle Bus service. As with 'No Membership', access to Golf is not included (beyond Visitor Golf – see below).
Full Membership (Social with Golf)
A property with a Full Membership at Royal Westmoreland has access to all of the standard facilities including the communal Swimming Pools, The Sanctuary, Gym, Tennis, Pickle, and Padel courts, The Beach Club, Shuttle Bus service, and unrestricted Golf tee times.
Resort Facilities Charge
From 2020 to 2025, each of our Royal Westmoreland properties have included an advisory for guests which read:
Please note: In early 2020, Royal Westmoreland announced the likely introduction of a US$10 per person daily fee, payable locally. Although this policy has not yet been implemented, this may change in future.
However, in early September 2025, Royal Westmoreland announced that effective from 1st May 2026, the Club will start to collect a resort facilities charge per villa, per week for access to the communal facilities (including those above). The charge is payable locally, and will be collected by Royal Westmoreland directly when you pick up your Resort Passes from the Clubhouse. This fee is not included within the cost of your rental.
Weekly Charges
- 1 to 2 bedroom properties: BDS $200 per week
- 3 bedroom properties: BDS $250 per week
- 4 bedroom plus properties: BDS $300 per week
For guests already in residence when the charge comes into effect on 1st May 2026, the fee will apply when registering for access on or after this date. The facilities charge covers all guests staying in the villa and is applied per villa, per week, rather than being calculated on a nightly or pro-rata basis. It is also based on the villa size category, not the number of guests or any reduced occupancy rate applied to the booking.
Use of the facilities remains entirely optional, and guests may choose to forgo access for the duration of their stay and avoid the charge altogether. Where access is required, Resort Passes must be purchased in weekly blocks and cannot be split across selected days. For longer stays, guests may choose to purchase access for only part of their stay, however access will only be valid for the selected week or weeks. Guests staying in properties listed as No Membership will not have the option to purchase Resort Passes or use the facilities.
Bar & Restaurant Seasonal Restrictions
Winter Season
In September, alongside the Resort Facilities Charge, it was announced that during the extended Winter Season, from 1st November until 30th April each year, the Club’s food and drink facilities (Clubhouse, Rum Shak, Halfway House, and Sanctuary Café) will be restricted to guests with a paid Resort Pass.
Summer Season
During the condensed Summer Season, from 1st May until 31st October, the Club's food and drink facilities will remain open to all resort guests and will not require the paid Resort Pass for dining.
Golf
Access to golf facilities and tee times are limited by the property's membership tier, keen golfers will likely chose a property with Full Royal Westmoreland Membership in most cases.
Visitor Golf
Guests staying in a No Membership, or Social Membership villa are restricted to tee times between 10:30am and 11am daily and are welcome to play on a pay-to-play basis.
Full Membership Golf
Properties which have a Full Membership to Royal Westmoreland enjoy unrestricted tee times and can book pay-to-play tee times via the Royal Westmoreland Pro Shop up to 7 days in advance of play. Guests require a Resort Pass to make use of these benefits, guests staying at a property with a Full Membership but without a paid Resort Pass after the 1st May 2026 will have the same restrictions as Visitor Golf.
The Driving Range
The driving range is restricted to guests of properties with a Full Membership, and cannot be used by Social, or No Membership guests, this limitation also extends to non-resort visitors.
